HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT SESSION FOR YOU

If you are new to documentary family photography, I recommend starting with a 2-hour session: Just Another Moment. If you are a super-relaxed family that is able to welcome in a new member for half a day (that’s me, by the way!) then go for a 4-hour session: Just Another Morning (or Afternoon) or Just Another Day (a full day).

 JUST ANOTHER MOMENT

Session length: 2 hours

This is a snapshot of your family life, both indoors and outdoors. In the 120 minutes, you and the kids could have a bounce on the trampoline, do some family yoga indoors, have a snack, go for a walk and eat ice cream. Or we could meet up somewhere like woodland or the seaside and just see how the time unfolds.

JUST ANOTHER MORNING

Session length: 4 hours

This is the most popular session, and could equally be an afternoon or evening. There’s enough time for you to do quite a few things as a family but in a relaxed way. Think of the time of day when you feel happiest: it might be a weekend morning when the kids are playing while you enjoy a cup of tea. Or it might be cooking and eating a family meal together outside in the garden as the light gently shifts from day to dusk.

JUST ANOTHER DAY

Session length: 12 hours

A full day-in-the-life session is something truly special. The photography either begins from waking-up time (think grumpy faces and crinkled pyjamas) or ends at bedtime (think bathtub splashes and cosy bedtime stories). Having the photography last for a whole day means you end up with a highly varied and emotionally rich set of images. I only take a handful of full-day sessions each year, so there are a limited number of slots available.

JUST ANOTHER YEAR

Session length: 12 hours of photography spread over 2-4 days within a year

This is about documenting a year of your family life. Perfect for an anniversary present or to mark a special point in time for your family. Maybe you’ve just moved house and you want to document your year as you settle into your new life? Or maybe your children are growing up so fast and you can see them becoming grumpy teenagers in front of your very eyes? Documenting a year with grandparents can also be incredibly meaningful.
