LET YOUR DAY UNFOLD, AND SIMPLY LET EACH PERSON BE THEMSELVES

Something strange happens when we are asked to look at a camera: we stop being ourselves. So let’s not do that.

Instead, live your reality in spaces that are familiar and meaningful to you.

Sunday morning pancakes, a forest walk, playing in the garden, or heading into town for shopping or a visit to the playground. Enjoy spending time together and let me find the moments.

“Jen made us feel at ease instantly. She was very skilled at being present, yet giving space so we could all be doing our usual thing.”

Hi there!

Inviting a family photographer into your home for the first time can feel like a big step. Let me tell you a little bit about myself so that we’re no longer strangers to each other. I’m Jen. I live with my lovely wife Jo, our Harry-Potter-loving 7 year old daughter and Guinness, our cat. Life in our house can be pretty chaotic and it takes us about two hours to leave the house wherever we go!

No two families are the same, and that’s why I love what I do. I can’t wait to meet you and your people!

HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?

Pre-session chat

We get to know each other a bit so that I’m no longer a stranger on the day of your photo session.

2.

Your photo session

Enjoy spending time together as a family, doing the things you ordinarily do. I’m just a friend visiting for the day.

Ordering session

The exciting bit when you get to see your collection of photographs and decide how you would like to keep them: as heirloom albums, personal prints for your wall, or as gifts to loved ones.

I BET YOU’RE WONDERING…

What is this type of photography called?

Its most common name is documentary family photography, but you’ll also hear it referred to as photojournalistic, or ‘day in the life’ photography.

We don't really do much at home, won't we be boring?

An ordinary family day is never, ever boring! The most ordinary evening routine of eating dinner, having a bath, brushing teeth, and a bedtime story, will contain so many loving, funny and unexpected moments.

What if my children have a meltdown?

Being a parent myself, I know that children can suddenly turn into little balls of pure emotion. It might sound strange, but these tricky moments will probably become fond memories in years to come.

What about camera-averse family members?

Even the most self-conscious of parents soon forget about the camera when they are naturally interacting with their family. One of the most frequent comments I get from camera-shy people after the session is: ‘That was fun!’.

Can we include grandparents / friends / pets?

Absolutely. Feel free to include the people who mean the most to you for part of, or the whole of, your session.

Our house is a mess / we've just moved in / we're renovating

That's fine! We want to tell the story of your family, and mess, clutter, unsorted boxes and home improvement are all part of your family story.
